모던패밀리 미국드라마 시즌 1-1편을 가족별 장면으로 나눠서 원어민들이 일상생활에서 하는 영어표현들을 공부하고 있습니다.

오늘의 드라마 장면 설명 : 메니 가족이 쇼핑몰에 왔는데 메니가 브렌다에게 고백을 하고 제이는 기분이 안 좋아 보인다. 부인인 글로리아가 기분을 풀어주려고 하는데...

 

 

Manny : Brenda Feldman. Gloria : What is that? Manny : A poem I’ve written for Brenda Feldman. 브렌다펄멘을 위해 쓴 시예요. Jay : Of course that is. 물론 그러겠지  Manny : I put my thoughts into words, 제 생각을 글로 적었고 and now my words into action! 이제 글을 행동으로 옮기려고 해요. [#put A into something A 무언가에 넣다] Jay : Ey, I'll give you 50 bucks not to do this. 이거 안 하면 50달러 줄게 Manny : I'm eleven years old, 전 11살이에요, what am I gonna do with money?그돈으로 뭘 하겠어요? Jay : What are you gonna do with a sixteen-year-old? 16살과 뭐 하려고 하니? Gloria : He's like a bullfight!그는 마치 투우사 같아 Jay : Ever seen a bullfight? 투우하는거 본적 있어? I can't watch this. 이거 도저히 못봐주겠어. Jay : No. Gloria : Yes. Jay : No. Gloria : When you say no like that, it's always yes. 당신이 '아니'라고 할 때 항상 맞아. Come on, we're in the mall, let's get you some younger clothes. 우리 몰에 있잖아, 좀 더 어려 보이는 옷을 사자.  There's a store there that I know. 내가 아는 상점이 하나있 Jay : I don't need any "younger clothes"! 난 "어려 보이는 옷"은 필요하지 않아. And I don't care what some jackass in a pair of ripped jeans thinks about me. 나는 찢어진 청바지를 입고 있는 어떤 멍청이가 나에 대해 생각하는 거에 관심 없어. [#a pair of  한쌍의] Gloria : Good, you shouldn't. You should only care what I think. I love you, and I don't care how old you are. So stop being a gloomy goose, 그만 기분 풀고(우울한 거위로 있는 거 그만두고) and stop being so hard on Manny. Jay : The only reason I'm hard on Manny is just because I don't want to(=wanna) see him make a fool of himself. Gloria : Look, I don't know what's gonna happen to him over there 봐, 저기서 그에게 무슨 일이 생길지 모르겠지만 but you're his family now. 하지만 이제 당신은 그의 가족이야. And that means only one thing. 그리고 그건 단 한 가지를 의미해. You be there the wind in his back, not the spit in his face! 당신은 그의 등뒤의 바람이 되어야지, 그의 얼굴에 침을 뱄지는 말아야 Jay : What? Gloria : Something (that) my mom always says, 우리 엄마가 항상 말하던 거야,  it's gorgeous in Spanish. 스페인어로는 멋져 Look, he's there. 그가 오 Manny : She has a boyfriend. 남자친구가 있데요. Gloria : OHH, I'm sorry, mi nino. Gloria : No mi amore, It was brave, right Jay? Brave.
